This is a six hour course and valid for three years and, is designed to teach individuals basic first aid skills. This course teaches the necessary skills to provide first aid to casualties that are not breathing normally, unconscious, or in need of bleeding control, prior the emergency services arriving.
These situations may occur at home (with family or friends), at work or out and about.
If you are first on the scene, what can you do to help stop, or control the condition from worsening before the Emergency services get to you?
This Emergency First Aid course meets the recommendations of the HSE Health and Safety at Work (1981) Regulations for Appointed Persons in the Workplace.
Course content includes:
- Scene survey and safety
- Risk to rescuer
- Basic Life Support
- Clearing airway
- Recovery position (the pros and cons)
- CPR for Infant, Child, and Adult
- Choking management (infant, child, and adult)
- Severe bleeding
- Shock management
- First Aid kits
- Additional topics appropriate to the group
There is no formal assessment with the six hour course, however, the instructor will assess by observation throughout the day making sure you feel confident in applying the newly learnt skills.
